What of course ends with the same problem, that you don't need so many plumper (and even there technoly constantly develops further). The real joke is: Pretty much EVERY high culture in human history got slavesk because it was others doing the work that gave people the freedom to to the thinks they liked instead and go in directions which wouldn't be paid. Today technology gives us the perfect slaves: those who aren't slaves at all, because machines and programs on top of being way more productive than any army of slaves could be. And what are we doing? We make a problem out of it. "They are stealing our jobs!" No. The capitalists steal your life by letting the machines only work for them and not for all. If they would work for all, this would simply give you the freedom to do what you want (beside destructive things of course).

Already happening. You got an AI controlled machine on the ocean which is working on that. It's of course still to small to solve the problem, but that's easy to change.
