You can print money as you wish, most of it is just bit and bytes, not even coins or bills, but good luck printing all the humans you lose there.

Was clear from the start. The whole thing is missing any actual goal to begin with. Even in best case of absolute success: what's the point? What could they do there? Even if they sit there, it's not like that would be a bridgehead, because they lack all means to bring in any vehicles. What was the idea? To have some Rambos do a Hollywood warmovie number there and just slaughtere their way toward Crimea with "bare hands"?
