@Silent824 Yes, for obvious reasons. Russia got superior fire power ans surveillance in every regard. Ukraine got more soldiers, but that mainly means more target, when you can't give them firepower. What make it worse: while Russia is clearly focussing on controlling the battlefield and keeping losses low, the Ukrainian regime seems to think that just big masses of soldiers and an 'endless' stream of weapon supplies from NATO will win the day. With that delusion you of course got gigantic losses.

@danielallan8061 That's mainly PR talk, though, the typical giant numbers from western side, which do not even closely add up, since in that case there is just ZERO reason why the coup regime hasn't won yet and that without beggint NATO for another whole new army, after they obviously already burned through 2-3. The only thing shown were some damaged vehicles - what happens all the time. Why do you think the regime needs more NATO stuff? Because they lost everything else.

The way Russia fights does not really make cannonfodde worthwhile. An army, even more in modern times, is all about all parts working together and weak links quickly becoming a problem. A weak link would be a prisoner with no skills and/or no loyality. That there are likely people in prison for crimes like drug usage or selling and so on or being to violent or whatever, who got some military skills in their former lives and could be useful, sure. There won't be that many of these and even those who are might still not fit, because overall too violence (making them a risk for your own troops), unwilling to follow order, physical or mental problems and so on. Ukraine is treating its soldiers like cannonfodder, because they clearly go not plan going on how to reach anything beside such video game ideas of storming the enemy fortress with all the NATO weapons and superiority in numbers. Even the 'victories' we saw are mainly Russia are retreating from bad positions with Ukraine just swarminf after them - what of course leads to massive losses on the Ukrainian side for exactly that reason. It's not even a cannonfodder strategy, there is no strategy but masses. Beggint for more weapons in the hope that Russia is running out of weapons - what is simply absurd.

When you got equal losses, it sounds that they are interlinked and mixed, what makes sense in general. Afterall: the idea to just send in some prisoners all on their own does not sound like a good idea. Something like Wagner need a very serious control over their troops. And the idea that you know there is a minefiel and just send in some peope - why? Just blow it up. There are vehicles and weaopns for just that.

Uh, why is "destroying the enemy army" a "Russian strategy"? That is THE strategy. Of course destroying the enemy army can go along with territorial gains here and there, as side effect or that these areas gonna make it easier to destroy the enemy army. But overall the destruction of the enemy army is just THE main goal of a war. When the enemy got no army left you can take whatever you want. When you take territory without care for the enemy army, you will be spread thin and easily destroyed. Then you got no army left, all the territory is gone, including your own.

Reason is easy: Only a small fraction is allowed to be recruited, since Russia will not let just everyone get out of prison for a mere six month service. From that small percentage allowed, only a fraction is willing to risk their lives in war and from that percentage only a fraction will be physically and mentally fit enough. So, yes, there is just a limited amount of people to get from prisons if you don't just open them, because you take whatever you can get.
