  3.  @thewedge8823  It's obvious enough that the structure of the Russian army meanwhile makes the defensive minister much more a manager than an officer. By that you would someone with manager skills there and put the officer where his skills are needed. When your for example got someone who is an expert programmer but lacks in marketing/financial skills, even when you run a software company, you shouldn't put the programmer into the marketing or production managament of that, but obviously make him lead coder.

  4. You think Ukraine will be rebuild? Better look at countries visited by the west... The only part of Ukraine that will and is already seeing heavy investments is west and south Ukraine, where Russia is already rebuilding the towns and cities.

Most obvious reason for a change like that is that the Russian army had changed in a way that the defense minister does not really have much to do with any strategical or tactical stuff, but has more economical fights, while the advisors, generals and so on are the link to the army. In that case a military guy at the top is not only a waste but contra productive, since he will not only not be able to use his talent, but struggle with all the actual tasks at hand.

  6.  @HgHg-yp6ft  Russia does not have a MIC like the USA and other western countries. It's called MIC, because most of the military production in the west is in privat hands (one of the main reason everything is ridiculous expensive). In Russia most of it is state owned. In general Russia produces their military stuff for production value (and only sells it for far more to other countries).

  7. Gulf war started with a weeks long air campaign with over 100.000 sorties and around 90.000 tons of bombs dropped, pretty much obliterating the majoriy of military and civil infrastructure. When boots came on the gruond, it was followed by a close to as big campaign of artillery and missile strikes, followed by a giant army rolling over the country, that had ZERO air defense left, so A-10 alone could destroy around 900 tanks, 2000 armored vehicles and ~1200 artillery systems - while they would simlply be shot down in a minute in Ukraine by Russian air defense. Also even the T-72 tanks Saddam got only had a firing range of around 1800m - while the Abrams for example could destroy them on 3000m range. Russian T-72, beside all the other upgrades, got a firing range of 3-5km. And of course all the combined arms systems behind them.

  8. NATO is an alliance of greed and stupity and there is still no lack of it in the west. It's failing since start, because the main reason of it was to pillage the rest of the world, especially Russia and China - what didn't work out at all.

  9. USA got zero reason to get out of NATO. NATO is a cannonfodder alliance - with all other countries being the cannonfodder for the USA to use as they please. The talk about getting out of NATO and alike is all about to give the corrupt European puppets something they can fearmonger with to keep their population in line. Cheap trick, like most, but thanks to majority of people being stupid, it still works.
