  1. When NATO joins directly, Russia can just shoot down all their drones, surveillance aircraft and satellite as fair game. So it would overall make the situation worse for NATO which is escalating from afar and hiding behind the "we are not at war with you" lie. When they give up that lie, they just become 100% legitimate targets.
