@kyugreywolf6801 It started better with some interesting mechanics in the dugneons, but Square is as greedy and lazy and cut down FF14 absolute everywhere, what includes dugneons. They put a lot of work in the art department, but that's it, a giant waste.

Makes no sense though, level never play an actual role or do you think some ShB mobs are all super Zenos because they are level 71+? Also: you do shit in ShB, there is no givne reason why you should grow more powerful and the way Zenos stomps you every time is without effort. That guy just walks, while he can actually be extremely fast - not even talking about that as Garlean general, he could just order to bombard the shit out of you and whole Eorza withotu any resistance. FF14 writing is terrible.

@ssjonupants Actually Zenos was a pretty deep character or would have been, if not totally ruined liked everything else by the bland mess that are the protagonists: stupid, but invincible Mary Sues who can just sit in a corner and smell their own farts and still win. Overall the antagonists are mainly the true heroes of the FF14 story, but then you got the shit and borderline disgustin writing who instead of creating a deep story out of this let your cheer for and accept genocide and totalitarian fascism in the worst kind, whitewashing it completely. So instead of a journey with lows and heights with struggle, loss, earned triumph, with falling and standing up again, you are simply just the super murder hobo who punches shit to death and that's it. Plus some blane copy/paste anime filler nonsense without any importance. How much was wasted in FF14....

@malefico0079 What overall is the main problem of the story in general. The player character just got absolute stupid plot armor and forces everyone else to be incompetent idiots who never do and even less reach anything. That's why people are pissed at Zenos, because those who love to be that unbeatable murder hobo don't like that there was that one guy who actually beat you several times. Overall: for no real reason by the way, too, the plot armor was simply deactivated. They are absolute terrible in handling the power levels - or probably just too lazy for it. Overall: Garlemald and Ascians, both could easily stomp you all the time but simply never do. Especially when it comes to Garlemald this is just ridiculous, an ultra high tech empire stronger than the USA and they lose against a couple of hillbilly villages by pretty much doing nothing all the time. It's so dumb.

@ssjonupants They ruined him, sure, but that's just the shit writing. The character itself could have worked well as he started. Of course in EW they had to do everything, that you and especially Superdimensional Ultra Hitler Hydaelyn stay the good guys and so everything had to be completely ruined for that goal.

@zhawkmoth3653 Emet Selch was also ruined, though. Could have been very interesting - even more since he was linked to Zenos, but, yeah, wo cares about that and everything at all... But then Emet Selch must become a complete idiot and fight, lose and die for absolute no reason at all. That guys had literally won, there is nothing you can do and you don't even have ANY kind of plan going on, you just go there and well, punching stuff to death should work as usual. Ridiculous. And then peeople go nuts about Warcraft, where they at least every time give you a reason why you and all the armies and powerful people on your side are able to stop something. In FF14: yeah, you just run in and punc the planet ending threat int he face and that stops it. I mean, as persiflage this would work well. But they sell it as serious story. That's rididulous. EW again: let's just fly there, lol, our plot armor will just solve it, lololol. No one got ANY clue of what awaits - and then you get saved by the guy who just wanted to burn down the planet for a duell with you - while never giving a single fuck to just duell you. Indeed, Zenos was utterly ruined even more than Emet Selch.

@tats_sacs Shadowbringer story is retarded. Time travel to solve things = shit. Antagonists are all forced to be absolute idiots, so you don't even need any kind of plan, you just punch them in the face and that's it = absolute lazy. The already annoying Mary Sues, the Scions, became even more annoying, doing one awful shit after the other, but thanks to being Mary Sues, it works anyway = terrible writing. Player character suddenly got an absolute epic background but gives a giant fuck about it = again terrible and lazy writing. You can go into details and got awful plot holes absolute everywhere and brutal retcons which make no sense - and EW just make worse. It's astonishing, how a game with that litle story and world building does not manage to keep their stuff together.
