@andregon4366 It's pretty much the main point of a Mary Sue to be insufferable. Else it indeed would just be a skilled/powerful/strong/whatever character. It's fine to have that. There is simply a line after which it becomes absurd AND boring AND stupid = a Mary Sue.

@MustardGuy161 When you do it on purpose, that's a different thing. If you write a persiflage, to overdo it is the whole point.

Nah, the problem is, that Arielle dares to be driven by LOVE... for a MAN!!! That's just disgusting!!!!!!! Also... dark skin of humans mainly got to do with protection form sunlight - why exactly should a mermaid living in the dark of the ocean have dark skin? It would much more likely be so pale, that it would be (borderline) spooky.
