@theophrastus3.056 I mean, the whole Death Star is BS, what they do with it is BS (why would you blow up a planet? The whole idea of war is to conquer stuff, not destroy it) and that a moon sized station could be destroyed by such a hit in the first place is even more BS, the only thing more BS than that is the explanation they try to give in Rogue 1. Overall: Star Wars is clearly something you shouldn't think about, becaue pretty much all of it falls apart instantly if you do.

I mean, you couldn't even hold it. They say, only the blade itself is hot, because all heat is contained by some magical field. And in that case, the same field would also save your body. Of course such a field makes as little sense as lightsabers in general. It's 100% rule of cool, nothing else. No one would ever create such a weapon for real. If you can generaet 20.000°C plasmas, why would you waste it on a melee weapon?

You overall wouldn't even be able to hold a lightsaber, even with some magical handle that doesn't heat up at all. Air would for sure. And if you argue that the lightsaber got a magical contamination field that manages that the air doesn't heat up, well in that case your body also wouldn't heat up beside that part where the saber stucks in. Overall the whole thing about lightsabers is, that they are solely exists by the rule of cool, nothing else. They make no sense at all beyond that. Even if they would be possible to produce, who would pump such an absurd amount of energy into a weapon that in the end is still just a sword = a borderline useless weapon in any scenario that got any kind of even low level modern weaponry involved. With that amount of energy a lightsaber consumes you could burn down a city - or run it regarding the enery consumption. Complete waste.
