  1. You know what the big problem of Laser is? To generat such amount of energy at that place. Dispersion is also a big problem, even more inrease by fog, dust, rain, smoke and so on. Or the horizon, limiting its range, since a laser will always go straight. It's also not just like some fany Hollywood pew pew laser, where every hit is enough, especially when it comes to harder targets beyond human skin, even more when it will have countermeassures installed, which will reflect some of the energy, increasing the power you need to destroy the target even more. And of course such system will be heavily impacted by every kind of small failure. Overall it's more fancy and expensive than anything else, maybe something for ships and other big systems as an addition, not a replacement. Not even talking about, how stupid war is in the first place, but I know, I know, western fascism needs to rob the world to keep its murderous and ever greedy capitalism running.
