  1. Yeah, people don't get that the most part of invention comes from state education and research. Even when companies do their own thing, they still rarely educate people but grab them from schools and universities. On top of that and far worth: companies want to make big profit, by that it's not even their focus to improve things, but to exploit the status quo as long as possible.

  2. West never understood, that the reason for Russia and China to buy in the west wasn't that they couldn't produce it themselves, but the west buying so much from Russia and China. When you trade, you want some actual value. Money is only an interim step. You don't just want a mountain of worthless money = coupons, you want something of actual worth. Since the west got very little worthwhile things, you could only focus on stuff you per se could produce yourself, but instead bought with the money you made from your sells. And even then Russia and China still had a massive surplus.
