One major background of that conflict is, that Ukraine is brutally seperated and when the illegal fascistic coup enflamed this, you got a bloody civil war. Kiev is in the fascistic, rassist anti Russian part of Ukraine. Russia does not want it if there is any way around conquering all Ukraine to end it for good.
