  1. Overall in warfare territorial gain is something you want to avoid if not needed to reach your goals. Territorial gains are a disadvantage, stretching your logicists and putting additional burden on it, since you must secure that area, wasting resources on it. Movement was mainly needed a long time in warfare, because the reach of your weapons were limited, either just melee or at best some hundred meter or very few kms when it comes to cannons or catapults, less than any modern mortar. Today even your low range weapon system can easily fire several km with mid and high range having a reach of dozens and hundres of km, ignoring those which can just fly around the globe. This makes it much easier to avoid movement, focussing only on specific goals you might want to reach, like for example getting all your low range weapons in reach of the enemies logistics to increase the pressure.

  4. Reason why USA created NATO was that its system is disgustingly hungry and burns through all its resourcs with gignatic speed so it needs to pillage the rest of the world. That's why is also desperately made Ukraine its proxy, because there is almost no oil and gas left in the USA, while Russia got the biggest resource reserves on the planet. Most the USA got left is wood and coal, so maybe they can switch to a steam punk empire...
