@matthewcoveney4380 In a vacuum you simply would have no fire, because it needs air to burn. Sad enough the lung does, too.
How to get a crashed train out of it if you somehow manage to have a crash an not already everything shredded to pieces by the speed alone, well, yeah.
You could of course just let air inside, but even the question would remain if it got the same problem as the Vegas 'loop' = simply no space.
Overall the whole tube thing, vacuum or not, makes no sense and just makes the price detonated. And without the tube you wouldn't even need a vacuum, since when it comes to train in the open, air is the least problem. It only becomes one in a tube, where the air can't go anywhere.
So even in theory and before all the other obvious problems, it's just stupid.
It's something you would use on another planet or the moon, where you simply have no air and you would then run the train in a tube without care to pressurize it, but COULD if something happens and you need to save the passengers.
That's a scenario where you could think about it, that you simply have a vacuum as natural environment.
