  1. Merkel is known for being absolut dishonest. It's of course nothing you will read about her in mainstream media. She's known for jumping the bandwagen and as a black widow in her own party, getting rid of all opponents there in a serpentine way. People understimate how vile that person is, because she looks so harmless. If you want to know what kind of person Merkel is regarding NATO, just look up what she did after 9/11, when Schröder said "no" to german taking part in attack on Iraq (mainly because he wanted to be reelected, though, it's not like germany didn't really do nothing... Merkel, while not even leading the CDU and not being in the opposition in germany, traveled to the USA and crawled before Bush Jr. For the few informed germans there are, it was a quite disgusting and ridiculous display.

Merkele likely thinks about the fact, that after the coup the coup regime had a massive problem with the army not following along and even switching sides and if that would have been further enforced by Russia it could easily have happened, that the coup would fall apart, without the hold of the Nazi network that was build up after that as compensation.
