Really don't know why he focusses so much on that number. It's not like they come up with absurd numbers. It may differ a bit, because overall it's still a guess when for example they destroy a factore or depot and can't look inside and count every single one. But overall the absolute exact numer does not matter. Take 100-200 more or less, doesn't change anything.

It's absolute normal, to have a lot of outdated units around, which are not in active sevice anymore and not really fit to use, but when you run out of everything, you come up with it. NATO will also have delivered more of it, not even talking much about it. You can also repair units, which are partly destroyed or out of order, so you can per se put a single unit several times out of order, but of course it's hard to tell the difference from afar and overall every destruction is a real one, doesn't mean that it's a total loss by turned to dust. It's absoluet normal to have more units destroyed at the end than the armies started with. It's the reason why Russia started to destroy military production and repair stations and of course started to destroy infrastructure that carries stuff from NATO into Ukraine.
