  1.  @deelag5444  That small force was never there to take Kiev, though. You can't take a city even more capital of that size with a few thousand soldiers and mid level equipment at best.

That the Nazis are Nazis and by that go the full way to burn down their whole country for nothing is a completly different topic. Of course the Nazis could have been smart enough to give up in general, but the pinning operation with an extremely small force when it comes to a 3 million people capital like Kiev, reached exactly what it was made for.
