I find myself thinking about this a lot, and I share many of the same sentiments. I didn’t really get re-interested in cars until 2014ish. It’s 2021 now, seven years from then - about 1 average product life cycle. And I often I feel like I’ve witnessed the one last generation of new cars I’ll be excited about. New cars are becoming wayyyyyy too numb and computerized for my taste, and technology is just getting over-the-top. I definitely wish there were more analog driving experiences in the new car market. And I’ll admit - I was one of those who saw EV’s (especially Teslas) as a threat. I’ve come around to them somewhat and I get they make a lot of sense as A-to-B daily drivers, but I just don’t see them as terribly exciting from an enthusiast standpoint, no matter how instantaneous their torque may be. I do think hybrid technology is something we should be taking advantage of more, especially to keep NA engines relevant. Ultimately I just hope we can pass down our passion for driving and analog cars to that next generation and keep the enthusiasm alive.

I’m really glad you raise this point since this is such an important part of this conversation. I share a similar concern - I too hope fun cars will still be relatively accessible to everyone from a financial standpoint and not just limited exclusively to the wealthy. The diversity of car people and car enthusiasm is a huge part of what makes the culture so fascinating. Hope that isn’t lost.
