  1. There are actually a few slight benefits that DCT’s present in a more fuel-economy-focused application like this. Alex on Autos discussed this in a livestream a while ago, and though I don’t remember his exact explanation, the gist of it was that DCT’s are lighter than regular torque converter automatics and are (generally speaking) more efficient (less drivetrain loss is what I think he was referring to, though I could be mistaken) than torque converter automatics. EDIT: I actually went back and found the livestream where he discussed it. Benefits are that there’s no pumping or torque converter loss with a DCT (resulting in 5-10% efficiency improvement), they shift gears faster and they’re lighter than regular torque converter automatics.
