Vierotchka A South Ossetian military group forced Georgia to respond. Russia invaded Georgia the very day after, which basically means they had already prepared their invasion before hand, without bothering to notify anyone of course.. As for Chechnya. I'm not sure where you get the CIA part from. The reasoning behind that was to combat Islamic militants, which for some reason meant they had to annex the country as well. They also claimed Chechyan terrorists were behind attacks of apartment blocks, but the only people they ever arrested for it turned out to be FSB agents. (true story) Now with Ukraine, that Russia is not involved is just your (supervisor's) opinion. I'm sure when Putin announces on TV that he was lying all along, (like with the "little green men"), I expect your opinion changes to that it was only logical for your country to do this.

As for your first link. What you call "facts" is someone's opinion piece. The article talks about who invaded first. Since I didn't claim that Russia invaded Georgia before august 8th, what's your point? For the second link, it seems to be about the period after 2008, while Russia's invasion of Chechnya happened in late 1999. Not sure what your issue is either, since I believe what I said is the official line of the Russian government.

Vierotchka Just so we're clear on this, you're saying then that Russia didn't invade Chechnya to fight Islamic militants, nor because of Russian apartment buildings being blown up? Edit: the Wikipedia page on Chechnya says what I just told you as well, "The War of Dagestan began on August 7, 1999, during which the Islamic International Brigade (IIPB) began an unsuccessful incursion into the neighbouring Russian republic of Dagestan in favor of the Shura of Dagestan which sought independence from Russia.[55] In September, a series of apartment bombs that killed around 300 people in several Russian cities, including Moscow, were blamed on the Chechen separatists. [...] In response to the bombings, a prolonged air campaign of retaliatory strikes against the Ichkerian regime and a ground offensive that began in October 1999 marked the beginning of the Second Chechen War." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Chechnya#Second_Chechen_War

Vierotchka Why are you copy/pasting an article, without referencing it btw, which just underlines again what I said? From your comment, and from http://www.aljazeera.com/indepth/features/2014/12/chechnya-russia-20-years-conflict-2014121161310580523.html _ "When a series of explosions in apartment buildings in Moscow and two Russian towns killed more than 300 Russians, Moscow blamed Chechen rebels and embarked on an epic "anti-terrorist operation," which became the second Chechen war."_ Interestingly enough, they never showed evidence for Chechen involvement, and the only people that got caught related to this (ironically) turned out to be FSB agents.
