Because many people on the Internet are rabidly anti-West. In their minds everything the West does is part of some nefarious hidden agenda. They dismiss all the negative stuff on Russia as either lies or "okay because the USA/EU do them too". Youtube channels such as Russia Today deliberately reinforce this sentiment.
