  1. An arresting officer does not need to tell you the reason of the arrest during the arrest. They're allowed to do that at a later time. As for police brutality, the fast majority of those I've seen are cases where people resist arrest. People should just comply, it's not hard.

  2. scottydog636 I'm not a police officer, but I can imagine that telling someone why they're being arrested before hand can also lead to hostile situations. In the end it's up to the discretion of the police officer.

  3. Karen Hatclerode I think people who derive their ideas of what the police can and can't do from Hollywood movies fit that label much better.
