@merriemelodiesfan7425 Trump wanted to remove the troops from Afghanistan, but then congress added provisions in the 2021 National Defense Authorization Act that prevented him from doing so. Trump then vetoed the bill and then that veto was overturned by the senate. Apparently, according to Tucker Carlson, there is also a connection here with the 'russia putting bounties on merican soldiers'-story, which Trump was attacked for, and now has been discredited, but I don't know if that story motivated these provisions.
