What's your source for the number of casualties? BTW this phase of the battle isn't about advancemet to the first or main line.

Stil you need to supply ammunition, fuel, food etc etc, the bigger the number, the more - for that as well as the materiel , you need a good system of logistics , lorries, drivers...

@bidenhasdementia8657 Time will tell. The manpower and resources advantage can also be discutible - you need to manage them. So far, most of mobilisation reinforcement is killed or wounded, you don't draft officers and NCOs to train and command new troops, specialists either. Also , Russia may have what to supply (equipment, ammunition, food etc), but no means to do that efficiently.

@monopalle5768 Do you mean Winter War in Finland?? You can buy phones etc from China or Iran, (not so easy with satellites though) but it's not so simple to change the system - why did mjr. Tomov have to go to 0 line? How(who) will train the men? Infantry, not even specialists. Who will be their officers and NCOs?

OK, it's not only Bakhmut, also wet season, time of waiting for Western equipment and training needed... and offensive is usually more costly than defence.

@comentedonakeyboard I didn't mean any relation, just reacted to 'quantity' Now the only one that comes to my mind is training of other thousand soldiers .
