He grossly miscalculated and his corrupt, incompetent RF will share the same fate as his Soviet predecessors. I do count Russia out barring some miracle which Putin is desperately counting on. Russia's shot it's bolt. There's not much left they haven't tried. Putin's RF is just a hollow shell of the once mighty Soviet Empire. And struggling against pint-sized Ukraine yet! With no end in sight. It's one thing to defend your homeland. A totally different animal to take someone else's from them. And Ukraine ain't going anywhere. Russia can't afford this SMO much longer. It's simply unsustainable for them.

@afreire239 All you need to know is Russia's economy is one-tenth that of the U.S. Russia's "industrial based economy" is only capable of producing a pathetic 500k autos per year. Tesla alone makes 2 million. U.S., Germany and Japan produce cars in the multiple millions. Dream on... Russia can't even produce the t-14 Armata tank which Shoigu had been crying for for years. Their dredging up ancient Soviet era artifacts. So where IS this vaunted RF industrial base? Just a shell of the once mighty Soviet Empire.
