  1. I'm no financial wizard so I need your input. If you reduce the maximum interest rate to 15% then more people will be able to take out loans. This means the banks will earn less per individual loan, but will have more loans to compensate. I haven't heard of any decent argument for the predatory pay day lenders who ensure that the poor are victimised and thus forced into the loving arms of the federal government and greater dependency. I guess it is up to which of your citizens you prefer to support, the poor or the millionaire CEO's.

It looks like my last sentence got cut off. (Obviously my error). So who do you have more empathy for, the CEO's or the poor?

  4.  The Irish Italian  I'm going out on a very small limb here. You have right wing beliefs. Studies have shown that those on the right have less empathy than those on the left. Politics should be about empathy. I am willing to bet you are getting empathy mixed up with sympathy.

  5.  @ghorn1217  You have obviously never taught in low socio-economic schools, where the children have parents and grandparents who were taught in low socio-economic schools. These children do not have the same opportunity as people from more prosperous communities. Especially as schools in the US are funded based on the wealth of their community. It is very easy to blame the children as they become adults for their decisions, but they didn't have the same opportunities as others. Some manage to rise above their social upbringing, but many can't. I often wonder if i was raised under those conditions how I would of fared. Do you?
