@iansmith788 Our facts match up. You were citing yearly outputs while I was citing Mt Pinatubo in 1991 and all the man made emissions since the industrial revolution. I got my facts from Scientific American (after I sadly tried to do the maths myself). I would like to see Murdoch deluded climate change deniers try refute those sources. (It would have something to do with communism or world domination no doubt).

Did a little fact check on your claim. What a surprise to find you were wrong. Mt Pinatubu released 50 million tons of CO2 in 1991. Since the industrial revolution humans have released 375 billion tons of CO2. Why don't you check my figures and then get back to me. Oh, by the way the eruption actually caused a drop in temperature for two years as the Sulphur Dioxide emitted block some of the sun's radiation. The things you find out about when checking if some one is telling the truth.

Scientists can tell you when, how and why the climate has changed going back 100's of million of years. You know like a change in the earths axis, a wobbling of the axis, solar output, volcanic output, increased amount of O2 or CO2, the movement of continents etc. So the question for you is "What is causing the present change"?

@jakeg3296 Their standard line is that the climate has always changed, so yes it is a coincidence My brother who is an avowed climate denier, believes that it is because the scientists are in it for the money. (You can see a similar thread here where they claim the activists are in it for the money). They are all in on a conspiracy. When I point at that if a few of them come and show how the figures are fudged they will be instant millionaires he tends to go silent. You next two questions are tied together. The fossil fuel industries, who know that climate change is real, are taking a leaf out of the tobacco lobby's playbook. Dispute the science for as long as you can, while making as much money as they can in the interim. Conservatives who tend to be more pro corporation than liberals are the obvious target for bribing by way of political donations. You can check this by going to 'Open Secrets' which tracks political donations. To complete the trifecta you get Rupert Murdoch who is very conservative to push the fake global warming claim. Murdoch owns Fox News in the US and Sky News in Australia plus many newspapers including the Australian. You can see the effect of this propaganda by the comments posted. When Fox talks about global warming you will see exactly the same type of comments. Therefore people who only or mainly use Murdoch media only get the anti climate change view. You have probably seen my comments asking them to explain exactly what is causing the present change. I get very few responses because it could lead them to change their world view and that is very daunting. The few replies are very easily refuted and then I never hear from then again. To prove my points I tend to use organizations like NASA, Scientific American, Berkley Earth etc. I never use IPCC because they believe it is in on the conspiracy. Anyway that is my view and I don't think I'm too far from the truth. But thanks on two counts. One, I will save this post and use a modified version when conversing with deniers. Two, its nice to be able to converse with someone with common sense.

@jakeg3296 You got me their. I don't really know. The only thing that the American networks won't touch is Dominion. It also appears that they are all in a race as to who is the most extreme. I haven't been to Fox today but I'm expecting comments that their are going to keep eat hamburgers and the communist fascist Biden can't stop them.

@jakeg3296 The Fox viewer's actually think it is a legit audit. When I point out to them who is running it and under what conditions, they go silent. Go figure! The really sad thing is that I am an Australian, living in Australia (married a Yank) and I know more about what is happening in their country than they do.

@jakeg3296 Good to know! My major concern was that Trump would destroy America and the world order. I have been trying to educate his supporters for over five years now. He has certainly split America and Putin probably can't believe how successful his interference in 2016 has been. I'm a bit younger than you, was just a kid when my dad was in Vietnam.

@George Mann Nice try. But the temperature drop from Mt Pinabuto in 1991 was only 0.5c for two years. Neglible effort on solar panels. Just how would a volcanic eruption effect wind turbines exactly? But lets stop looking at the side issues. The real question is: Is climate change made by humans or not? If you don't think it is please provide evidence for your believe.

@George Mann Sorry for taking so long I was fact checking your claims and you are correct about wind stilling. However what you are ignoring is that a VEI-7 eruption only occurs about 1-2 times in a thousand years, with the last one being Mt Tambora. The sun shield is certainly a possibly, but I couldn't find even a tentative date for it's completion. In the mean time NASA is going green, including wind and solar. Can you cite the claim that there has been zero results with wind and solar on I presume the power grid. Hydro and Nuclear are indeed options but not all nations have those facilities. Hydrogen is also being used to decrease fossil fuel reliance.

The causes include change of the earth’s axis, the axis wobbling, changes in the earth’s orbit, solar output, changes in the percentages of O2 or CO2 in the atmosphere, movement of the continents, change in ocean currents, volcanic out put and the earths albedo.
