I didn't want to tell your mate about the carbon isotopes, I wanted him to look it up, because he probably wouldn't believe me. But I will give you are heads up. The 3 types 12C 13C and 14C. Only one is produced by burning fossils and that is the one that is increasing in the atmosphere.
