As a democratic country why should we have foreign people born into the position as our head of state? Imagine if Andrew was the next in line.

@svensshed1564 A better system would be for people to become the head of state through merit rather than birth right. Do you approve of the Democratic Republic of Korea process to appoint the head of state?

@svensshed1564 The GG is picked (not voted) on merit, but is just a mouth piece for some one who achieved their position by birth right. You are using the exact same argument as Howard, who very cleverly destroyed the last Republican referendum. Not whether Australia wants to be a Republic or not, but what type of Republic. My suggestion is two referendums. The first being "do you want Australia to be a republic" If that passes then the second referendum on what type. I doubt that it will happen in my life time. So I guess you will win.

@svensshed1564 I never said that. The GG is selected by the Prime Minister and then appointed by the Monarch. What would happen if the Monarch decided that they didn't want that person as their representative?
