Heard a funny Churchill quote on another site today. "America can always be trusted to do the right thing, when they have exhausted every other possibility".

@zac5572 I am no fan of Churchill, he bungled Gallipoli in WWI and was a conservative. However he has earned respect for defending his country in WWII. But whether you like him or not he came up with many funny and insightful quotes. You need to prove only people on the left up voted this garbage. Or perhaps accept that the USA is not exceptional after all.

@zac5572 During his time in India in the late 1890's he was a junior officer. Look if you the like the quote or not, whether you like the man or not at least stick to the facts. As an Australian I have every reason to dislike him. His bungling of Gallipoli cost many Australian lives, and in WWII he wanted the Australian troops to stay in Africa and Europe and not go home to defend Australia against japan. Yet I can still appreciate funny and inciteful quotes.

@zac5572 Hey slow down. Are you an Australian? He defended his country against Germany, you know, the country that caused millions of deaths. If he did want war with the USSR, it didn't happen. I used to believe to he was a war criminal because of his bombing of Dresden, but recently I found out I was wrong. Can't believe I am defending Churchill. But then I'm more interested in facts than beliefs. If Churchill is responsible for millions of deaths then give some evidence.

@peterpain6625 I was citing something I heard without fact checking (my error}. Do you know who said it or whether it was actually said? I prefer to be corrected rather than live in ignorance.

@nancyelliot8411 Thank you, I was't aware of this. Maybe I was correct, not about Dresden, but Churchill being a war criminal.

@DoesntHurtYet Hey, I'm getting a little bit bored of repeating I am not a Churchill fan and as I have been advised he is even worse than I thought. Despite that I can still appreciate witty quotes (and it has been indicated that he might not even had made it}. I think you will find that Germany was responsible for the sinking and even advised people to not sail on it.

@DoesntHurtYet Ok I give up you win. I appreciate humour even if you don't. Or, hang on, is it because you take offence at his attack on so called American exceptionalism? If so you do realise that only an x percentage of one country believes that bullshit?
