The attacking side (mostly Russia) typically loses 3-5 times more than the defending side (Ukrainians). They talk about only "confirmed": 50,000 on Russian side, and 30,000 on Ukrainian side. Add a 0 to both numbers to have a real estimate. Casualties are high on both sides, and Russia is liable for all of them. The difference is that Ukrainians defend their country, but Russians defend the rear end of their Fuhrer Putin who started this war.

@ahmedhossain1096 Russia lost 20K only in one town of Bakhmut causing the Wagner march on Moscow. Current Russian losses are over 500K due to Russian cannon fodder style of attacks. The defenders, Ukrainians, have much fewer losses by definition.
