@New-ye2fl "Economic system based on social ownership of the means of production" - which means, like any collective, centralised control (large state) and high taxes. I suspect you don't really understand socialism yourself. Try reading some history: nazi Germany, Stalin, Mao, the kymer rouge, North Korea, Cuba etc.

@chkldstgee2433 Not really, there is a ciagrette paper's width between them - marxism is an ideology, and communism is the result of socialism's natural arch. All collectives require totalitarianism to work. Much better to believe in individualism I'd suggest.

@maxwild1212 Good point, but given time I'm sure they'd take us there. The state's over reach, and socialist outook is increasing all the time, hence why real conservatives won't be voting for them. There is very little difference between the main parties, all have embraced globalism / socialism and have turned their backs on democracy. Socialists should be happy IngSoc is just round the corner!

And just like a socialist you go straight to ad homniem as you have no idea how to make an argument. Check out great socialist movements if you want to know where your ideology gets you: Nazi Germany, Soviet Union, Kymer Rouge, North Korea, CCP etc.

@maxwild1212 I think a balance between socialism and capitalism is the best, some nationalistion (utilities, rail etc.), but not all (e.g. NHS should be social insurance). Banning things (e.g. smoking, netzero), high taxes, large state, open borders, and identity politics are not conservative policies

@maxwild1212 On some aspects yes. But overall I they've moved too far to the left. I don't like high taxes, a huge bloated state, netzero, open borders, lack of patriotism, weakness on law and order, defence or their endoresement of identity politics. As I said traditional supporters are leaving them, not because they aren't left wing enough, but because they are too left wing! Socialism isn't just economics either. Traditionally 'conservatives' stood for individual freedom and choice. As a rule large centralised socialist authorities are the opposite and collectivist and tell people what to think and censorship is a hallmark (e.g. Mao, Stalin, Hitler, Kymer Rouge, North Korea etc.). The UK is a lot closer to those regimes since it abandonded individualism and greater free market capitalism

@carysparkes Banning smoking, ULEZ, netzero, onlines harm bill, hate crimes, COVID lockdowns, 15 min cities, all the trans stuff (censoring people), two tier policing, allowing the BBC to become partisan, 77th brigade, CRU etc. Not sure how old you are but if you are of a certain vintage try comparing now to the 80s or even the 90s

@carysparkes Socialism prerty much always leads to authoritarianism (you can't have collective in lock step without a large state setting the rules). Its the opposite of individualism. Look at the history of 'socialism' don't just take my word for it.
