@mtalha909 Well, it's a good thing Toyota is one of the most innovative automakers, right? They do innovation right. First to use reliable VVT. First to use reliable direct injection. And they were even first to use dual injection with the GS450h. The innovation happens more on the Lexus side while the Toyotas use well proven tech. As it should be. And, no, even the other Japanese manufacturers are not manufactured nor tested as well as Toyotas. The standard gap is large.

@mtalha909 Did you seriously just compare a Nissan Rogue to a 4runner? Ridiculous. I'm sorry you think a 4runner is $50k as well, as you can get a 4WD SR5 for $36k easy. The TRD Pro model is an off-roading variant. If you like the superficial and easily changed things, like the head unit and LED lighting, then that is your loss.

@mtalha909 Trust me, buddy, it's not because I don't agree with you. I think I speak for most who replied here when I say you are not well informed or, at least, adept at transferring it into a comment. You obviously compared a Rogue to a 4runner. Grand Cherokees are at least $40k for the same features and Quadra-Trac 2. I do love the 5.7 in the Grand Cherokees but they can't really get past 200k miles without a rebuild. Edit: How exactly is the 4runner's interior bad? It is extremely functional and useful and the plastics are actually the highest quality out there. The Grand Cherokee's interior is awful and is worn much quicker. This is not hard to research.

@mtalha909 They "choose not to" mainly because allocating a tight budget for superficial BS like 360 cameras and lift gates for lazy people with poor driving skills cuts into the costs of things that actually matter: Engineering/testing, machining, materials, and assembly with good quality control. You clearly aren't 4runner's target if you like gimmicks.

@mtalha909 You absolutely clueless. Spend some time in the automotive community (SUV community, etc.) before speaking with such authority. One of thousands of YouTube armchair warriors. The $36k SR5 4WD is basically just as capable as this TRD version minus the upgraded suspension. It even comes with an LSD. Put better tires and a skid plate on it and you have 90% of a trd pro.

I personally wish they would put the 1UR-FE in the next 4runner.

@mtalha909 You still haven't taken a single thing from any of my replies or the others. You DON'T have to "choose between reliability and innovation". No, I'm not calling technology gimmicks. What you described very clearly are features marketed to people like you who think their lives are made better by that kind of tech. Instead it's just something else to make you isolated from the world. I support cameras for safety but the only one you really need is a rear view. Also, how many other SUVs have an electric rear window now? I'd rather have that signature 4runner window than a power lift gate when the thing practically opens itself with gas struts anyway. Otherwise, what other tech do you really want in the thing? Do you want massaging seats and a HUD with digital cockpit in your 4Runner? Any tech which doesn't add usability but instead substitutes previous tech for more info, etc., is fine but you buy a LEXUS for leading accessory tech. Otherwise, if you know how to work on a vehicle, you can customize a 4Runner to have what you need. I'm all for the Toyota line getting a better head unit but there's almost nothing else I'd change other than a 1UR-FE in the 4Runner. Go buy a Tesla if you desire but their quality control and material integrity is much closer to Fiat than Toyota. It is changing but I don't see them overtaking even Nissan soon.

@brodiwheeler7583 The 1UR-FE is the 4.6 that is in the Tundra and GX460. It's the one without D4S. Just has port injection. Amazingly reliable. The same version with D4S was in the LS460 and GS460.

@brodiwheeler7583 Oh, you're thinking of the 2UZ-FE. That was in the last 4Runner/GX470. 1UR replaced it. Great engines just like the original 1UZ. Their DOHC naturally aspirated V8 is a dying breed but the most reliable engines ever made. Only other company making a similar engine is Infiniti with their VK56VD.

@SkippyPB. Over a year later and I get a reply from someone who didn't even read my comments.

@SkippyPB. No shit? Really, "cupcake"? If you actually read my comments then you'd know I also said the Pro isn't worth $50k and said you could do much more starting with an SR5 and doing your own mods.
