@captain-chair Objectively false. The best product possible always wins under capitalism (Edit: assuming people are subject to free speech, talk to each other, and have access to objective information, something harder to do before mass communication). It is the choice of the consumer, however, to want to pay less and receive a product which costs less to produce (and, therefore, lasts for a shorter duration). Competition is what drives prices down and keeps innovation prioritized. Ideology like Marxism suppresses innovation.

@duffman7674 That is quite different. Cars have many parts that must be replaced for safety reasons (e.g, components with rubbers, and bearings), primarily, and automakers sustain themselves through dealer service and parts departments. BEVs require less wear items in general so we will have to see what the lifespan limiting factor will be from now on. I'm guessing it's the failing computers and batteries that will cause people to ditch old EVs: And you can't rebuild those in your garage with basic hand tools.

Nah, LED bulbs still have planned obsolescence. They prevent you from accessing the driver boards and the boards themselves have crap components. All LED bulbs I've used so far last 4-5 years max without magic smoke
