  2.  @bwofficial1776  Cost-cuts during the 90s are a pretty big myth. They were actually spending more than ever trying to keep up with the Japanese. It was really around 2002, a few years after the start of Daimler-Chrysler, where terrible decisions were made. Even more towards the end of the Daimler-Chrysler era. Many point to interior plastic failure and rust issues, etc., but both of those were due to costly experimentation with new methods (lightweight materials to catch up to Japanese plastics dominance, and better corrosion protection methods).
