And mechanically it's garbage.

@VicioTHEdriver Buuut, it's not. You're talking to the wrong person. I am very familiar with quality studies and where their engines sit. They are well below average and I'm fairly sure they still fall below even 1 standard deviation reliability wise (repairs per 100 cars). In general, it's their low displacement, very tight tolerances, and high stress engines to meet EU displacement regulations and still be competitive. They could make decent NA engines. Personally don't care for boring turbo I4s as the only option under $80k either. I do wish them success.

@JK061996 I know they used a very suspect source for their latest TV ads (the worst in the industry to me). Initial quality is much different than dependability that measures problems per 100 cars, for example. Powertrain wise, as bad as some GM engines are, they are more proven with stats than Alfa's engine family.

@VicioTHEdriver That has to be the least statistical survey I've ever seen and shoddy journalism. Reads more like a paid advert against MB. No sample size data. Likely only a few Giulias included versus hundreds of C-Classes. Wait for something like the 2019 JD Power study that's coming out soon.

@JK061996 Nice elaboration. At least it's one of the statistically sound studies. Don't tell me... you're an FCA fanboy? Then you must not care about facts.

Béla Bá That's not difficult. The G70 3.3t usurps everything about it. Undercuts it as well because of Hyundai Group's vertical supply chain.

@paulj9821 Get your head checked? At least you're somewhat on the right track with the second comment. A G70 is a better car in just about every single way compared to the Giulia. I do not hold bias and would love to praise Alfa products but they have a long way to go. Yes, EU's Euro 6 standards have caused some issues. The credit system encourages the automakers to consolidate engines into as few options as possible and become more modular. It is limiting potential longevity of the engines in order to meet the emissions standards.

@paulj9821 I've already alluded to why, but: 1.) About $5,000 less 2.) The G70 is available with a superior engine option within trim level that costs about same as equivalent I4 Giulia 3.) The G70 is available with a manual transmission 4.) The G70 has more structural rigidity thanks to cheap vertically-integrated Hyundai steel 5.) Better interior materials 6.) Better NVH standards The Giulia has a better I4 than the G70 but that's all you get without paying $30k more for a Quadrifoglio.
