Bingo! Switching to rivets or any other anti-repair method will damage their brand way more than any aggregate fixed cost savings

Which is much wiser than saving on assembly costs. This way it helps them to use factory reconditioned parts and also benefits their customers in long-term repairability.

Exactly. It's logic like Munro's that will end up damaging brands more than they think. Keep everything to where it can be disassembled quickly and brand image is improved. Do they not understand that long-term repair costs and anti-repair assembly methods are damaging brands more than ever now?

@myg63 That's absolute nonsense. They can be serviced.

Blue Loctite is perfectly sufficient for a lifetime of holding those fasteners in
3
Agreed. They haven't put that much testing into a single Tesla vehicle and barely even test their cars compared to traditional OEMs before release

Threaded fasteners are fantastic. Can't believe you'd support riveting just to save a few seconds and dollars. It utterly screws the end user if maintenance needs to be done. Labor will cost way more than any fixed cost savings from manufacturer's standpoint. This will likely hurt the brand more than any aggregate cost savings. Just use top grade threaded fasteners!

@storeskeeperrvl3797 It is if they're the ones having to disassemble it all to use reconditioned parts. And that's why VW did it

Nothing wrong with those fasteners if they just use removable blue Loctite

28:47 Paging Louis Rossmann! Come on, they are easily serviced.

The way it should be. Not worth the weight savings
