Good to see John back. Still remember the first time you were on After Hours

12:17 It can't be a "premium luxury car" with the interior materials and fit and finish of a $50k Audi. It doesn't get anywhere close to an S-Class or A8 (or even the Lucid Air), which is what it's priced closest to.

@pipooh1 Humans can't really notice decisecond differences in acceleration (and especially centiseconds). The Air is a better luxury car in every possible metric. The Model S continues to have interior materials and general fit and finish of a $50k Audi

@JohnnyZenith It's nice that he invited John who has always been very objective with a more macro view of the market

Hello, cult member. I know your eyes gloss over when anyone criticizes Tesla (regardless of intent).

@cyumadbrosummit3534 Yes, Infiniti had it in the Q50 many years ago but they need a mechanical linkage for redundancy

@bubbazanetti4522 You seriously just labeled Rimac a scam? I'm sure you Tesla cultists think you are better able to judge than Porsche, which acquired a large stake in Rimac. They delivered their previous car and now is no exception.

@pipooh1 "Fit and finish is the past". Please be joking. I obviously wasn't talking about the exterior fit and finish in this context and, yes, it has the same general interior material quality and finish as a $50k Audi A4 (the new A6 or even a 5-series blows it away as well). I drove a 2020 production Model S for 2 months so I understand perfectly well. It is no premium luxury vehicle. It's still a step down.

@scdi12 Hopefully you don't actually believe that but, even if it were true, humans aren't able to tell the difference between deciseconds

@pipooh1 The Grand edition will be about the same price as the Plaid and is still a better luxury vehicle. People need to accept just how old the Model S is: Old enough that the original chief engineer started his own company and released his own car, the Air.

@brad7571 You need Musk and Tesla in your life to supplant a lack of alternative religiosity. You'll grow out of it or be further absorbed by the dogma

As anyone else with intelligent contributions to the industry, John has always criticized without malice. What a ridiculous, cult-like, mentality you have.

Steering linkages are important for redundancy and are easily designed to not intrude into the cabin

@pierre.a.larsen Nice fellatio you're giving Tesla there. Are you justifying your ownership? This reads like any other cope of a cult. The 911 may look similar, but it is entirely redesigned from scratch every time. The Model S has not been, in favor of iterative improvement. Iteration is fine, but not when the product has the same exact exterior design for 5.5 years, and is still the same 2012 design (apart from front fascia). The truth is the Model S is going to be eaten alive by the superior Lucid Air (which was also done by Rawlinson), the Cadillac Lyriq, etc., if it doesn't get a full 911-esque redesign.

@TheEvilmooseofdoom Someone dares have an opinion on an objectively old design and it's jealousy? Interesting
