  1. The CCT (color temperature) of the LEDs has much to do with eye strain and fatigue. The harsh cold light coming from most headlights just sucks. It should be around 3000K or below to be less straining to other drivers

  2. The best thing automakers can do in the meantime is ensure the plastic lenses are replaceable as a separate component. There are some expensive units which aren't!
