@Derpy-qg9hn That's a silly, Marxist-driven, thought process. It's absolutely wrong. The free market is defined by sentiment and propensity to purchase again. Therefore, if planned obsolescence is truly that terrible and maddening to you, you need to speak up about it and avoid giving them your business. Ultimately, it is a failure of the consumer to understand why it's a disposable society that is preventing a huge movement against it (though you are seeing some good progress in Right to Repair).
The true reason why planned obsolescence is a good model for some applications is finance logic. Most consumers use heuristics to find the best combination of price and brand favorability (some care much more about price than brand and vv). In the same way that leasing a car is more affordable or preferable (fewer number of payments, give up ownership, and avoid time spent selling/depreciation) for a consumer, it is more logical for businesses to try to lower the price of anything if there is a certainty the person will repurchase in X amount of time. (Perceived obsolescence is also relevant and sometimes they don't need to design things to fail: With quickly advancing tech, or trends like clothing, this is done because most consumers are not laggards and want new things within a certain amount of time.)
Overall, I would personally rather pay more for tech that wasn't designed to fail before its potential life. This can be done without going to a Marxist society where competition (and subsequent innovation) is not encouraged.

The historical evidence is clear within every major US city which, at one point, was majority-white but later became majority-black (Baltimore, Compton, Detroit, etc.). Decades and decades of repeating issues followed after they obtained political power, despite political elite and academics assuring us they are just as capable of carrying the torch, and were replicated in opposite ends of the country with the exact same results:
Destroyed cities, failed government services, much lower quality of life, and disastrous levels of corruption. A figurative light switch flipped in terms of the scale of time.
And they don't even want to live in the very cities they inherited because they're all so terrible.
Don't dismiss sane people for being "racist" and naturally wanting to live with people they evolved to prefer.
The fact Russia is using this obvious reality as propaganda is only natural: Countries tend to utilize their enemies' weaknesses for gain.
Doesn't mean it isn't true or even exaggerated. Assuming so is fallacious. It's understandable to have heightened skepticism with any propaganda, though. They're also using the riots in France as such, but that's still a very real issue, no different than what led to the collapse of the cities I mentioned earlier.
Also, name any rights that trans people don't already have. You can't. It's movement propaganda you've fallen for yourself.

What you are saying about this Saab is simply technological innovation. Innovation is created by innovators and overly complicated engineering is carried out by engineers with relatively extremely high budgets. I can't stress that enough. The case with overdone automobiles is they usually sacrifice long-term feasibility for short-term gains (Think about a vehicle that instead of using conventional tensioned suspension system, has a new innovation called the air- suspension. And, this air-suspension has an unnecessary amount of computers, along with every other small part that is overly-complicated JUST to give the passengers a SLIGHTLY more comfortable ride and adjust the car's height depending on road conditions. This vehicle also uses FIVE ball-joints on each side of the front suspension that have been crazily over-thought, when there could have been less. There are also certain types of rubber bushings used between ball-joint contact points and for inside the pressurized suspension. And, in this vehicle, they decided to use a much pricier, softer, rubber that gives a much smoother ride in the short term, but in the long term it will need replacing quite often.)This also confides maintenance into short-term intervals unless the person who owns the vehicle knows what they are doing and can do the maintenance themselves or cheaply. If in these types of real "over-engineered" vehicles, a seemingly miniscule part comparable to a rubber bushing in a suspension like I mentioned fails, then not taking action to fix the issue will immediately lead to an additional plethora of problems. THAT is overly engineered. Unnecessary chain-reactions. And as you can tell, I have been around REAL vehicles like this. They are amazing and worth the effort of upkeep. People who have owned vehicles like I have and still drive them for all these years, know exactly what the word "preventative" is. I have an intense appreciation for what most people consider "unreliable over-engineered" vehicles, mainly because they are more rewarding to own, and people need to live a little. Nothing is unreliable if you do what is supposed to be done.

Secondly, the data for my specific comparison speaks for itself. It takes a few minutes searching classifieds to find how 1MZ engines are lasting against EZ30s. I never said it was worse, though. I routinely see 1MZ with 300,000+ miles.
Toyota cars have never tried to compete with Subaru's near-even AWD in the USDM (from the true VCD 50/50, to 45/55, and the newer 60/40). Side note: Subaru's newer CVTs ruin them. I'd say a new Camry XLE with a V6 is more for enthusiasts than the Legacy. What, even, is your definition of enthusiast offerings? For SUV/truck offroading enthusiasts, Toyota has a market Subaru doesn't. The WRX/STI is still the only car catering to enthusiasts. 86 is shared. Toyota engineers did heavy chassis development of 86 because they both sent teams to collaborate together. Please, share your sources claiming most of the work was done at Subaru's facilities with Subaru's employees.
Lexus does have plenty of performance offerings. The 2UR-GSE is a great engine which can take hundreds of thousands of performance miles without a rebuild. I'd take a used IS-F over the new Supra. The powertrain is a disgrace for the modding spirit of Supras.
Edit: I brought up the Denso relationship because that is the primary supplier of Toyota and you kept mentioning Subaru's suppliers. Subaru has a much wider range of suppliers for critical components. This introduces more risk from communication issues with the additional suppliers. All other Japanese manufacturers deal with Denso in some way too because they are another local supplier. Subaru has benefits of raw materials from Fuji Heavy like Hyundai Motor Group does. It's just an example.

1. Yes, there is actual data available using the mean mileage of cars for sale nationally in, say, Autotrader. This is statistically sound.
2. Subaru's target is very different based on the traditionally more practical uses of its higher quality AWD systems. Toyota and Honda have recently used Haldex systems which are max 80/20 in their application (is a famous CR-V AWD test proving its uselessness). This is changing, though. FYI, the Venza never had permanent AWD, just a Haldex-type electronically-engaged system that normally drives 100% of torque to front wheels. It did work better than the Haldex systems, though.
3. I'm aware of people "off-roading' Subarus but that is not realistic in heavily variable terrain. Yes, 4Runners and FJs are heavily off-roaded, as well as Tundras. The scene is almost as large as the Wrangler community. The luxury and enthusiast markets are not mutually exclusive. I can say firsthand that an IS-F is more fun to drive than a WRX or WRX STI. It's my opinion.
4. Your previous claims contradict this and I know for a fact how joint development works in automakers so I just wanted to point that out. I also followed the 86's development out of curiosity. I do personally wish to see an EZ36 twin turbo GT car out of the partnership eventually. SVX revival perhaps?
5. Sure, but even new F models from Lexus are a bargain compared to the Germans and the engine quality is superior (all 2UR-GSE). Used F models are great. Even without them the S160 GS is amazing and easily modifiable like any other Lexus. A GS400 released in 1997 still outperforms any new non-WRX Subaru for less than $5k. Manual throttle body, RWD, 1UZ: What's not to love? And the 2JZ are like a 4 door Supra after mods. With the new Supra, I'm aware of the extensive development process between the two. I followed it heavily. Sadly, Toyota had much less influence on this engine than even the 86's engine. It's still a B58, was designed 5 years ago by BMW, and the updated version in the Supra debuted in the G05 X5. The differences (parts numbers from official engine diagram) are the turbocharger, oil pump, oil pan, acoustic cover for oil pan, cylinder head cover with no pressure control valve, and plastic engine cover.
6. The point with a more vertical supply chain is you are able to take more from within than having to take externally. This reduces risk. Say one automaker takes a more even amount from each supplier, while another, which is vertically integrated, takes 60-80% from their vertical supplier. This leaves less to go wrong at other suppliers. And I'm not saying Toyota doesn't use those suppliers you listed. They just don't need to outsource as much.

@802Garage Yeah, I don't want to keep making my replies longer out of habit, but I will say something about the potential auto listings data. If you take the mean mileage across all the most used auto marketplaces (Autotrader is an example), throw out cars with salvage titles for accuracy, and view the results as something like a percentage of cars originally made, then I don't see anything wrong with it. It would just take a while to get more accurate data from Subarus given the lower numbers. You can probably use the data set for multiple linear regression analysis with dummy variables to find relationships with individual explanatory variables.
Right now I have a P2 V70 2.5t I'm upgrading to be like an R, an S430 (pre-facelift so no ABC and other complexity), and an S160 GS400 platinum (silver on black). I like variety, haha. Also lucky to be in the south where old cars like the W220 stay rust free, whereas in the north it destroyed them. Also, fiber optics and voice control in the 90s! It fulfills my interest in old electronics and cars at the same time.

But, guess what? Just as all media is biased, as you said, Congress and presidents will often cause government shutdowns. The record has been 25 days.
Schumer and Pelosi, the figureheads of the "Trump resistance" farce, are the pair who refuse to budge in negotiation for a wall. What's odd is that usually the parties all come to a middle ground or bipartisan agreement, something Trump has expressed intent of but has not been reciprocated. Let me remind you, now, that both Schumer and Pelosi, along with most of their fellow party members, all openly supported and voted for funding of high security border fences and other high border security while both are on video speaking about the problems of illegal immigration and drug trafficking issues (and recently). Their voting record doesn't lie. Now with Trump in office, it's all just politics for them. They likely aren't budging because of posturing for the 2020 election and are masking this with simple and easily defeatable lies related to border security (multiple videos you can see of their own words before Trump became president).
Also, you need to research the amount of drugs coming through the southern border and the associated drug cartels, like the Sinaloa, that have territory just below the border. They can't even bury the dead fast enough from the cartel wars occurring (https://www.ndtv.com/world-news/second-mexican-official-fired-after-over-200-bodies-found-stored-in-truck-1919337). Why do you think ICE wants controlled ports of entry along a barrier?
Government officials will get back pay and I am perfectly fine with the government shutdown until the Democrats decide to make a deal. $5.7 billion is nothing compared to the damage done by allowing even a few more criminals to go in undetected, or the damage caused to hundreds of thousands of Americans by drugs taken over unenforced areas of the border. Why should we allow those who force their way to the front of the line skip all those who are applying legally and not cause more labor black markets? The benefits far outweigh the cost. Let traffic flow through controlled gates.
