  1. It was much more caused by a rise of anti-libertarianism or anti-liberalism (liberalism as in the more classic type instead of the more vague subjective relative critical social justice type.)

  2. The swamp is deep and full of terrors. It got this way because people forgot how to clean it. The people forgot that the governments primary job is to protect individual rights, not to dictate some morally superior feeling narratives by any means.
