The word "Amuk" (the origin of Amok) is still actively used in the Malay language in Malaysia when regarding murderous rampage (like school shootings) or even the classic berserker state.

Funnily enough the Malay word "Amuk" (the origin of Amok) can also be used to describe the berserk effect. The word is still commonly used in a Malaysia.

+Gempak Asher " Amuk biasa terjadi secara tiba-tiba tidak dijangka" " bertindak agresif, mencederakan orang, menjerit, memaki-hamun" Do you know that you basically just described a berserker ? So yes , we can say "Seorang beserserker mengamuk di medan perang "or "Angkatan musuh bertempiaran lari akibat amukan Gunnerson" if we're talking about a warrior's act of berserking.

+TheAsj97# Lindybeige made a video about this. While Berserkers in the sense that we refer to them today (guys that rampages across the battlefield) didn't really exist.A class of warriors called berserker do exist .They do wear bearskins (more as a status symbol and to distinguish themselves) they act more like personal champion for the jarl/nobility/royalty and no, they do not went berserk in battle.
