  1. No, that wouldn't happen at all. Unless the wall is made from extremely flimsy material, sudden materialisation of a single hole several centimeters ( or even larger) in diameter won't cause huge blast of atmospheric pressure air throughout the tunnel. At best it would we just a small ( the size of the hole) jet of atmospheric pressure air slowly filling the tube. It would disrupt operation and cause the tube to be closed for repair, but it won't be this catastrophic disaster you described .

  4. +brickman409 Unlike the hyperloop which is potentially solving a problem as lower cost (compared to building high speed rail) and delivering new technology, The Boring Company is "solving" a problem that can addressed using other methods more cheaply and effectively. Heck, with self driving cars becoming a norm , the problem would have solved it self sooner or later and tha is just one potential solution . It is a textbook case of a solution looking for a problem.
