I mean I saw in a documentary (was it on National Geographic or Discovery?) years ago that fishing Eagle in Malaysia duel the same way. They basically catch each other's claw , forcing both to plunge into the grounds (usually water as this is common done above watery surface) in a eagle version of a game of dare. The one that let go first lose.
