There are a few things lot of people don't understands about these enforcement agencies and why they seems so slow to respond: 1) They are actually relatively underfunded and understaffed compared to the myriad of scam and fraud around. That is whey unless there is already a dedicated team/investigators working on the the case , new case got put on the backburner. Bureaucracy slows this process even further . 2) Gathering sufficient actionable (ones that would stick in court) evidence/proof take time and resource , hence why it can took months or even years into the investigation. Many time , the investigator were already working (months usually) into the case when a news or other outlets broke the news of the potential scam. 3)In case of certain frauds, agencies such as the SEC may establish receivership to claw the moneys from the "winners" in scam and reimburse the "losers" of such fraud. However , it is impossible to recover 100% of the loss (though high percentage of recovery have been achieved for some ponzi/pyramid scams in the past) and it is much. much , much harder to do so for publicly traded company such as Nikola, hence why they usually opted for a punitive (those many feel the fines are still too low) fines on top of jail sentence for such. Of course this have some may erroneously claims that agencies like are doing this to squeeze some "pocket money".

@togowack SEC is not in the business of shorting companies , all they do is enforce law.
2
@togowack You mean tech start ups like Nikola Motors and Theranos?
1
@togowack The SEC is a government agency ,not corporate entity. If you pay taxes in the US you are the ones paying them.
1
@togowack Either you have proof of this or you are just spouting conspiracy theory garbage.
1
@togowack Look at my OP, I already stated that they aren't doing as a good jobs as they could. Unlike you, I am not blamings some ridiculous an irrational conspiracy theories for their misgivings. Also you seem to think companies like Theranos and Nikola should get away with their crimes.
1
@togowack And you think the crypto market is any better? With all those ponzi and scam popping out there in the crypto world it is a far more dangerous place tan the stock market. As for Nikola, if you had to ask that question, then you really haven't paid any attention to what's happening..
1
@togowack Not as bad? LOL tell that to the billions that are lost to crypto scam. Are yiu goin to tell me that you don't know of all the lies Nikola used to trick all their investors? Dude, most EV channels (Sam Alexander, Transport Evolved etc ) thoroughly covered them already. You can't be that ignorant.

@togowack "Crypto scam? Which one? " Therer are too many to count. Ilya Lichtenstein, Heather Morgan alone laundered 4.5 billion worth of stolen cryptos. "the stock market is guaranteed losses." In what way is it "guaranteed" loss? "their hydrogen trucks are out and driving around." You mean the one that needed to be pushed off a hill? They don't have hydrogen trucks. They don't build their own battery powered trucks.

@togowack " you remember the Gamespot scam?" I don't think you are remembering it correctly because there was no such thin as a Gamespot scam. They wee controversy with Robinhood (which is why they re under investigation for it.) but no scam involving Gamespsot itslefs. "Nikola trucks have driven fully on hydrogen across many states, and you know you're misinforming people and only proving my point." No you are just straight up lying. Nikola just delivered a few BEV trucks (not hydrogen) and they were converted Iveco trucks. Again , channel like Sam Alexander and even the one you are on (The Electric Viking) have debunked Nikola and Trevor Milton's lies multiple time. Milton may be spending some time in prison for this .

@togowack Did you came from parallel universe or something? None of that happened during the GameStop Saga. What happened was a bunch or Redditt campaign manage to derail some short seller plans, causing the shorts to lose billions . None of that is illegal. What the investigation was about action of few brokerage (including Robinhood) which tried to stop people from buying GME. It was very well documented on what happened? How did you misremember that?

@togowack If you bought the big lie that crypto is going to be more fair and just than what it purported to replace, then I have a bridge to sell you.

@togowack The crypto world is just a rigged and controlled by a few rich and powerful as the real world. For example the $41billion NFT exited are distributed only among less than 400K people, less that 10% of them control 80% of all NFT values. You'll find the same trend for pretty much all crypto. The main appeal of crypto is it's decentralisation and lack of true regulation. The problems with deregulation and decentralisation is that there is no recourse for bad predatory behaviour. A Wild Wild West scenario is not something to strive for.
