You forgot to add long range high capacity aircrafts and large scale static power storage . Hydrogen scales best when the weigh requirements mean that batteries are too heavy and strangely enough where weigh isn't an issue at all (static storage) but instead amount of energy that can be stored for long time (think storing summer energy for winter).

@flodjod Firsly , Hydrogen isn't (and never has and never will be ) competing with solar power for energy generation . It's competing with battery for energy storage Secondly, It still have a huge weight advantage over batteries.

@np4029 Yes, but hydrogen isn't that technology. The laws of physics itself mean that hydrogen will never be cheaper than BEV for consumer vehicles. In the future they may be techs that make BEV obsolete, however HFCEV isn't and won't be that tech simply because it need to break the laws of physics to do so.

@sergeypavlov7249 That is because Hydrogen can't compete with batteries for consumer vehicles. Hydrogen cars only have two advantage over BEV : refuel time and range. The former doesn't really matter when you can recharge overnight at home or at works and newer battery technology is rapidly catching up to hydrogen's range. In all other metrics such as cost (both to set up and own) , complexity and performance for consumer vehicle , a HFCEV are lesser than BEV.

@sergeypavlov7249 Public transports and heavy utility vehicle are not consumer vehicles. If you are going to talk about cost then remember these few thing: 1) HFCEV is still far more expensive than a BEV to own an maintain. 2) It cost more to set up a hydrogen logistics networks than it is to install a level 1or 2 charger on very available public parking space. 3) BEV is getting cheaper and we are rapidly approaching price parity with ICE

There are new tech that make storing hydrogen safe and cheap for the long run (such as one where thy are stored in tapes) , Not saying the hydrogen will ever beat batteries for consumer land vehicles, just saying that there're solution for those issues.
2
@flodjod It seem you are not up to date with the latest breakthrough in hydrogen storage.

The same happens to me with that guy too. And no ,Tesla (and all other BEV companies. have no reason to be afraid of hydrogen. Hydrogen is a dead end for consumer vehicles.

Did I just got shadow banned from this channel?

@williammeek4078 Storage safety is an issue for hydrogen regardless of what it the intentioned application they are to be used in.

@villageidiot8194 The problem with batteries regards to aircrafts and ship is that it is too heavy to he point where it compromise range and payload capacity. Until and if any battery can match the energy density (per weight) of hydrogen , it will be a better alternative than batteries for such application . Another utility where hydrogen still have an edge is for static large scale, long term storages of energy. Think saving summer time solar energy for the winter months .
