No matter how little and badly Trump is doing, you mean.

@bretnelson4417 No,it's not booming in America at all . Every year more coal mines nad power plant shut down because they simply can't compete with natural and and renewables (wind, solar etc). Check out how many US coal power plants shut down in 2018 alone.

@miaoli5808 For some reason youtube doesn't notify me of any of your replies.

@miaoli5808 That because China have huge growing need for energy they need to build as many plant as they kind, regardless of the type. Of course lets not forget that even China is going full steam with other sources such as renewable and even nuclear (which is the cleanest of all non renewable power) .

Open your Eyes Considering that my country lies in the Equator and have great amount of sunlight all year long, that is a good idea. Unfortunately private solar power (for homes) haven't really taken off in my country for various reasons (including "political" ones ).
1
@miaoli5808 BTW, this came from your very own link:https://www.carbonbrief.org/iea-chinas-new-coal-plants-make-no-economic-sense As to why, it's probably the same reason why they have so many "ghost cities" .
1
@miaoli5808 Seems the same to me. The report in your link established that most of China's coal power plant are now operating less than half capacity and there is no little to no need for new coal power plants . It seems that the Chinese are now doing their infamous"build infrastructure to fill government official quota" mode again. "Dylan James yes, that’s why both old and new energy are coexistent nowadays. " Considering how destructive coal (something The Chinese knew all too well) is, it should be phased out as soon as possible.
1
@miaoli5808 ". And coal is not that destructive compared to nuclear plants" This is a prevailing myth that people who are ignorant of nuclear energy tends to spout . Coal is a lot , lot more destructive than nuclear power plant in so many ways. It creates more waste than nuclear energy , releases more harmful radiation into the environment than nuclear energy (yes this is a fact, check it up) , kill far more people every year than nuclear energy and contributes greatly to climate change. In fact, fission power is the most environmentally friendly of all the non-renewable energy.
1
@miaoli5808 Oh, BTW: You don't export power plants, you export coal. And no China is not an net exporter of coal. It have been a net importer since 2008.

@miaoli5808 I know it's hard to take. I was as surprised as you are when I found out about it a few years ago. Here is my rudimentary search on it , check the links :https://www.google.com/search?q=coal+rlease+more+rasiatin+than+nuclear&rlz=1C1CHBF_msMY703MY703&oq=coal+rlease+more+rasiatin+than+nuclear&aqs=chrome..69i57j0.10061j0j7&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 This is the main reason while coal power plant and mines have a much higher background radiation than nuclear plants .
1
@miaoli5808 Too bad power plants tend to void high grade coal like anthracite for obvious reasons.
1
@miaoli5808 "Clean coal technology" still isn't a clean as natural gas and cost a lot more than natural gas.
1
Open your Eyes Now that is BS. Renewable (especially solar) actually cost less than coal in the US nowadays even without subsidies. The reason coal is dying in the US is because they simply cannot compete on fair ground (in terms of economics) with natural gas and renewables.
1
@bretnelson4417 Thankfully now there are viable alternatives to coal, hence why is is losing favour in the US even with Trump administration actively trying to stack the odds in their favour. Too bad that in the US nuclear power is an N-word despite being the cleanest non renewable out there, or else we would have phases coal out a along time ago.
1
@bretnelson4417 This statement is no longer true for renewables (you might have a point 10-15 years ago but that is no longer the case) . The current cost of power generation for renewable even without subsidies is equivalent if not lower than coal. Couple with the fact that fracking have made natural gas very cheap in the US , coals death is imminent even if Trump managed to hold office for two terms or more . The only way for coal to forward is if Trump managed to cling to power for two terms or more AND introduce policies that punish competitors to coal, the latter is even more unlikely than Trump having more than two terms (which isn't possible in the US, if anyone was wondering) considering that renewable alone (not counting natural gas industry) employed million of people compared to several hundred thousand (at most ) for coal. The voting arithmetic doesn't add up.
1
@miaoli5808 Yes, that why we should switch to renewables and nuclear until we can find better alternatives (fusion eg) .
1
@bretnelson4417 Those regulation are for protecting the coal mine workers and the environment, not to promote their competitors (which are subjected to their own set of regulations ). Sure, you can have relatively lax regulation of China (in the past) and have hundred of coal death per year while completely destroying their environment but at least coal would be cheap , huh?
1
@miaoli5808 You do know that that Prager video is completely bullshit and have been debunked multiple times , right? Prager U is not a trustworthy channel at all and they have been caught multiple time cherry picking and misrepresenting data to push their narrative should tell you that they never argued in good faith. Using Prager U as a source is like using Alex Jones for citations.
1
@bretnelson4417 Yes , you basically just agreed with me(in your example) that coal companies in the US have obey strict laws to protect the environment.
