"I have pet dinosaurs. I ate dinosaur for lunch." Hopefully those two aren't the same.

That depends. You need to provide the name of the virus for us to determine what/which host it targets.

No' the extinction event still happened. It just that some survivors they were thought to be casualties of such extinction event actually survived longer that they previously thought.

Dude, this isn't TierZoo 's channel.

Firstly, most virus do not target humans. Heck, most don even target eukaryotes. So no, not all of them makes us sick. Secondly, there are virus that are beneficial to humans. For example we have been using certain bacteriophages for industrial purposes and there are growing interest in suing them for in the medical field. Take note that these phages only target certain kinds of bacteria and do not and cannot infect eukaryotes, thus making them very bad for their host ( which isn't us) . As for the question is there any virus that is "good" for its host...I don't know.

You should check Isaac Arthur's youtube channel ( conveniently named Isaac Arthur) . He did an interesting series on the Fermi Paradox and the various possible solution to it ( one was even a nice scientific take on Cthulhu type cosmic horror).

No, humanity will pretty much survive this rounds of climate change. The thing is, this time around we , human are the ones that are responsible for both climate change and the current mass extinction.

Most of the species that we rely for food are almost immune to the climate change due to the protection we gave them . Even if the entire biosphere of our planet can no longer support life (which is unlikely unless some cosmic event ala gamma ray burst occurred) , we can still survive due to methods like in-door vertical farming (which works well with both flora and fauna). It will be challenging and there will be catastrophic calamities due to the change that will affect million (if not billions ) of human and wipe out most wild species , but humanity as a whole will be able to endure it.

Every filter feeder is a fierce predator , to a plankton.

Well, they know that they weren't plants.

If by good you mean "Beneficial to humans" , then yes. For example we have been using certain bacteriophages for industrial purposes and there are growing interest in suing them for in the medical field.
