I think what amazed them is that they saw it fall in slow motion, too....and they weren't looking at a TV screen or computer monitor.

No. Gravity exerts the same force on everything. Normally, the feathers fall slower because the air is exerting pressure against them. That is our normal. No air means there is no pressure exerting against the feathers and it will be attracted at the same rate as anything else no matter the weight. That's the normal state of gravity.

There is so mass in the equation. g is gravity and is the result of an equation that includes mass. Gravity on earth is 9.80665 mass/s². You can expand that equation this way. d = 9.80665((g * t² ) / 2) m/s² Then to simply the equation you figure out (g * t² ) / 2. The simplified equation contains the mass already figured into it.

I'm not sure where your problem is with this video unless its how he says the VA belts are dangerous. It's dangerous because it could damage the onboard computers and guidance systems. These electronic components were not on the Apollo moon mission rockets. Back then the computers were monstrous and couldn't even fit into your living room. So they didn't need to have the shielding to protect the electronics on board the Apollo ships. If the computer systems fail on the new ships, like this Orion, it could shut down the guidance systems so you can't steer anymore or worse, the life support systems. That's the danger they face now and its not real danger. It's like your car. Back then, cars didn't have all the electronic gizmos they have now. Space ships are the same. If they fail in your car, your car will quit but you won't die. If you're in space and the computers fail, you'll die because all life support machines will quit. I can't for the life of me, understand why it's so hard to grasp this concept.

I don't see the contradiction that you're talking about. The only one that I've ever heard of was how dangerous the VA belts are and that NASA admits it in this video. They don't admit this at all. That is a contradiction from a misconception that some people have about the VA belts. I don't see any other contradictions.

Jim Taylor The most radiation that the astronauts went through during the Apollo missions was 11.4 rads. That's well below the standards set for workers in nuclear plants. 100 rads can have health affects and over 1000 rads is likely to be fatal. The Apollo flights went through the VA belts at the pole where the belts are not as thick. Thus, they avoided the wider parts and spent shorter times in the belts. The VA belts are an area of the magnetic field which store radiation from the sun and protects the earth from the sustained effects of radiation. Sometimes there are major solar events that get through and still effect the earth. In 1859, there was a major solar storm that hit the earth called the Carrington Event. The effects of this storm knocked out telegraphs all over Europe and North America and even gave electrical shocks to telegraph operators. Yet, no one died from the effects of the radiation from that storm. However, in space beyond the VA belts, it could have been a problem for astronauts. If such an event were to happen again, it would be disastrous for electronic equipment on earth. It might take years in some areas to restore electrical power and it would cost in the trillions to bring back the power levels to what they are now. Moon mission hoaxers do a lot of talking about the VA belts but they don't have the numbers or stats to back it up. This was not the first time I seen the film you recommended and all it has ever said is that it would be dangerous to electrical components in any modern spacecraft. Dangerous, just like the Carrington Event, in which telegraphs were damaged but people were not. That is the danger. Hoaxers just extrapolate the danger to people to satisfy their own suspicious agenda. It won't be long before you'll have new agencies to call liars. NASA won't be the only ones any more. The Chinese are planning manned missions as well. When they do, they'll be the new liars. Conspiracy types won't run out of stuff to be suspicious of for a long time. Moon hoaxers will have a field day in the future.

The ball weighs a lot more than the feathers so when it hits that surface it will push it down further than the lighter feathers which increases rebound. Man....that's such a simple concept.
