@bobshenix He's not disappeared. In fact, he's been slowly coming back and has been giving interviews, made some internet videos and is writing a book.

@bobshenix UN-approved guru. UN is about globalisation, the government will take care of you. Peterson is about individual responsibility, looking after yourself. His short dabbling with the Socialist Party in Canada, convinced him that Orwell was correct. Socialists don't really care all that much about poor people. They just hate the rich. Now, if you could show me how he was guru for the UN, through evidence, and not bold assertions, you might have something. Until then, I've read his books and watched hours of his lectures. I've never seen anything that would make me think that he's mouthpiece for globalisation.

@bobshenix He was asked to join a Canadian team to study world ecology and climate change. He wasn't even paid to do it and it took 2 years so he had to keep working while he was doing it. Have you ever heard what he said? It's not the kind of thing that the modern left likes to hear. He said that fisheries rejuvenate rather quickly if you don't over fish and things aren't the disaster you always hear about. He says that the burning of coal actually helped Carbon emissions because people were no longer burning wood, a much dirtier fuel. He said that there are more forests today than there was 100 years ago, in the northern hemisphere. Try and say these things, today, on a college campus or even on CNN. You'd be vilified, shouted at and cancelled. These things aren't the things that globalists want spread around. They want you to think that coal is poison. Biden wants to eliminate ALL coal mining. They want you to think that the forests of the world are almost all gone and the oceans are near dead. Say these things on your Facebook page. They'll be all over you. You're doing what so many do. You make an accusation that's vague and innuendo with nothing specific. "He was there for a bit so he's that type of person....a really bad one" How shallow is that? That's not how a deep thinker assess issues or people.

@bobshenix The climate change and earth ecology was what he was involved in. That's what that UN commission was all about. Also, he was disgusted with Justin's Trudeau's cabinet appointees which Trudeau picked to check off his equity list. JP thought that this was a terrible way to hand out those posts. You're making associations without evidence and on what you think he's about. He's always talked about merit and he's been quite outspoken about race and group quotas in filling job positions. His interview with Cathy Newman, a British Television host, particularly outraged the "woke" mob. He dismantled her feminist claims, completely obliterated her when she questioned him on what she called offensive speech. The New York Times wouldn't even put his book on their best sellers list even though it was the top selling book in the English world. He's positively hated by the left and progressives. They think he's a Nazi and now you're saying that he's a globalist. You can't be anymore opposite than that. I don't know where you're getting your information from but you're a long way off.

@bobshenix Yes, I was aware of it. So what? Lots of people have worked with the UN from all types of different ideologies. That doesn't mean that they're UN mouthpieces. Hell, I was once married to a woman I thought the world of. Now, I wouldn't give her the time of day. Also, it didn't go over my head. I thought it that trivial and inconsequential that it wasn't worth mentioning unless you went there, specifically, which you did.

Sophie Blessed There you go again. You're so eager to denigrate but you never give any examples of what you're talking about. It's just more "tis too" type comments. You sound like an 8 year old.

Sophie Blessed I don't praise myself for it either. But would you get me some credit for quitting? Besides, Peterson took the drug as a prescription, on advice of a doctor. He didn't go downtown, to a back alley, to find a drug dealer. His situation was much different than mine. Alcoholism kind of sneaks up on you. You don't realise it until you're in the throes of it. I still want a drink but I don't go for it because I don't want to go back down that route, again. One of the worst parts of dealing with addiction or mental health is having to deal with the self righteous and judgemental. They're always SO smart, SO willing to cut you down, to look down their noses at you. So many people have declared that Peterson has had a positive influence on their lives but all, people like you, do is cut him down. You won't accept that he has a message, a message that not easy to follow, but one that can be so very helpful to people. You'd rather see them suffer than allow them to get their lives together. It's almost as if you pleasure in their troubles and that it's how you validate your own lives. It gives you a sense of superiority....that your better than they are. You have no idea just how mean you sound.

@bobshenix Off you go again, making all kinds of negative pronouncements that don't even make any sense. Peterson was an ordinary professor in a Canadian college when a law was passed that could have FORCED people to say things against their will. He spoke out against it on campus, not against trans people as people but the idea that they could make up a set of pronouns and then force, under the guise of bigotry, people to use those pronoun, using the law as their cudgel. He didn't ask for the students and staff of the University of Toronto to become so outraged that they threatened physically and professionally. It was thrust upon him. I doubt it was his intention to lead the world in the fight against woke progressiveness. He just gave his opinion and people started to listen. His apparent lack of success at stopping the tide of leftist takeover, doesn't negate what he's saying. What kind of logic is that. It's like saying that the Germans that objected Hitler's rise to power are nothing but cultists and losers. It's illogical. He's taken a stance against an ideology that many find attractive. The negativity and rancour that you exude, in every one of your posts, belies a personality type that has always puzzled me. You don't really discuss things. You just attack, denigrate and sneer at people. There's nothing positive about anything that you say. You seem to wallow in misery and find joy in tearing people down to your level. What a sad existence.

Sophie Blessed I just love how you're squirming out of having a real discussion on how he's hurting people and how he's a cult leader. I figured as much. You've never read his books or watched his lectures and videos. You're just repeating talking points that you've heard others say about him. I deal with people like you, on the internet, all the time. Great with claims and insults but lousy when it comes to anything substantial.

@bobshenix And those character flaws are spilling into their everyday lives and making them extremely unhappy. Telling them that if they start small by "cleaning their rooms" they will find purpose in their lives, something that is a positive. It's small and simple, one that can easily be accomplished...but it's just a start. Some of those lazy, unmotivated and unhappy individuals have taken him up on it and found that it wasn't all that difficult. So they expanded that initial mandate by doing a little more. So many have changed their lives by starting small and simple, because they didn't see the value in it, until JP pointed out how it could have some value. If these people are grateful to JP for pointing it out to them, why would you crap all over it. It obviously has value to some people....the ones who've grown up never having to do anything for themselves, thanks to their helicopter parents. This is something that their parents SHOULD have shown them when they were preschoolers but had to wait until a guy like JP told them that a good way to get out of their miserable existence was to take some responsibility for their own lives. Like cleaning their own room instead of waiting for the maid or their mother to do it. If a person can do that one simple task, they should be able to handle 2 simple tasks and then 3, expanding outward until their lives take on a semblance of order. It's too bad some adults have to be told the value in this but that's the way it is. Some folk just don't get it.

@bobshenix How is it his fault that someone would use what he's saying to further their own agenda? That's our his control. What's more, you've not shown me how they're using this to further radical right wing causes. It's meant to help individuals who are having problems dealing with life. He helps people and now somehow you link it to right wing extremism? If you make the claim, you should be able to make a logical case to show the link AND to show how this was JP's intent. That I haven't heard, yet.

Sophie Blessed You've said absolutely nothing. If you want to be taken seriously, tell us what he said and how it could hurt you or better yet, how it's hurting people right now. Also, one of his top axioms is to take responsibility for your own life. When he says to "clean your room" that's exactly what he's talking about. It's a metaphor that's telling you to start small, get that under control and keep expanding outwards from there. That it's up to you to change your life and that no one else is going to do it for you. If that's being a cult, then it's the worst cult in history. Personal responsibility is poison to a cult.

We all go through them in our lives. You seem to take joy in his pain, as nasty and mean spirited as it gets.

@bobshenix If only you could actually speak about any of those issues in a thoughtful and logical manner. However, that seems completely beyond anything that your capable of. He's discussing ideas, sometimes ideas that appear contradictory and he's trying to see them from all angles. You want opinions and you want ONLY those that you can agree with. You refuse to discuss ideas. Also, the simplistic "clean your room" analogy has been a great help to a lot of people who've never heard it before. If you don't find it helpful, good for you, but YOU are not the arbiter of all things intelligent or simplistic. Be glad for those who've used that idea to make their lives worth living. However, I don't see that EVER happening. You're too bitter, yet arrogant, and you'd rather tear those people down than allow someone to do something, to help people, in ways that you can't. You've not said ONE thing that's not been rooted in a bitter heart. I can do nothing buy pity you and you'll never understand why I would do that. If anyone needs to "clean their room" it's you but you'll never understand what I mean by that, either.

@bobshenix Are you really trying to tell me that there are no spoiled kids who've never had to do things for themselves? Who've never had to clean their rooms, cook their own meals, live on trust funds, never bought their own car or TV with money that they've earned through hard work? Is that what you're seriously trying to tell me? Again, you've not given me ONE example of him trying to sell Agenda 21. NOT ONE. All you've said it that he worked for the UN, which isn't even technically true, as he worked, without pay, for a Canadian task force on an UN project. That's EXACTLY what I mean when I say you don't discuss things. You make assertions and them back them up with insults. You don't even seem to be able to understand what I'm talking about. It's either that or your deep set bitterness won't allow you to discuss things out of fear that you may not even be correct. Discussions are for those who have the moral courage to question their ideas and beliefs. Cowards make declarations and insult because they're afraid to challenge themselves. It's easier to get online and bluster and degrade than it is to face their own weaknesses. Grow up.

@bobshenix MY GAWD....it's a metaphor. You can use it, literally, as a way to begin to change your life, but at it's root, it's a metaphor. Look up the meaning of the word if it confuses you. No wonder you have a difficult time understanding philosophical concepts.

@bobshenix Back to you obsession with Agenda 21. So if I think that air pollution is a problem and we should avoid it as much as possible, I'm now pushing a UN agenda? I have a friend who, as a member of the military, was sent to Ethiopia to help starving refugees as part of a UN program. Does that he mean he's a shill for Agenda 21? It's difficult to understand your anger and bitterness. Your negativity clouds every thing that you say. What's more incredible it is certain that you've NEVER read his books. If you did you wouldn't go on about how he's pushing Agenda 21. You create a narrative and then you get angry over the narrative that you've created. What a weird way to live a life.

@avivastudios2311 "12 Rules for Life" is a really good book and easy to understand. "Maps of Meaning" is academic and it's a tough read. Incredibly fascinating if you have the patience to read the same paragraph over 2 or 3 times just to fully understand it in its context. If you do read it and get it, it's well worth it. There's an understanding, or as close as we can get today, of human psyche as you'll ever read. I really recommend them both.
