@lisastreitfeld5806 I'm Canadian and we have this dream, as well. The entire generation, that came out of WW2, believed that hard work and personal responsibility would achieve that dream. I am a product of that generation and so many of them, my parents included, worked long and hard to achieve financial and professional success. They asked for nothing but the freedom to follow their dreams, in the way that they saw fit, and believed that this was the way to a meaningful life. This is where Jordan Peterson came from. A small rural community, where toughness and tenacity were what made one a respected individual. It may not be the "American" Dream because it's the dream that Canadians followed.

@lisastreitfeld5806 They didn't live the American dream. They created it, through hard work, pride and personal responsibility. The dream isn't granted to you, you have to work for it. They did. We now expect it. Their belief system was why it was within reach and beyond the reach of so many today. That's the difference between the generations.
